Herbal House

Lighting Design in reception offices in London

Herbal House is an office development located in Clerkenwell, London. The original building dates from 1928 and was used by the Daily Mirror newspaper as their print press headquarters. One of the main aims of the project has been to celebrate the heritage and character of the building, where original brickwork and stone detailing have been repaired and refurbished.

Match designed the lighting to the main reception and waiting area driven by the final industrial deco appearance. Spotlights located directly onto the raw exposed concrete ceiling offer a lovely colour contrast. Above the staircase is a beautifully designed ring of lights chandelier, which captures the visitor’s attention and offers a stunning visual piece complimentary to the reception design. Lighting has been carefully implemented throughout to highlight the buildings history and showcase the furniture pieces taken from the old parts of the original printing machines.
