XYTS by WGNB

XYTS is a fashion store with a curated selection of brands in Gangnam Seoul.

Our design for XYTS began with a spatial concept of "moulding cocoon". A simple geometric form undergoes through a moulding frame, resulting in an unexpected result. We treated each of the original form, the moulding frame and the result as spatial objects that products are displayed within. 

The original form became a monumental background of the lounge, and the moulding frame and what came out from the frame shares an iconic orange colour to illustrate the process of " moulding cocoon". Lastly, the outcome objects are developed into a pavilion structure resembling a cocoon, which greets customers into the store with products displayed within.

Besides, we collaborated with an artist based in Seoul, Rahee Yoon. She is an artist and designer who is dealing with acrylic. For XYTS, she fabricates furniture made out of translucent coloured acrylic. It show the concept of this store clearly with colour and forms.
